WOW 2019 Aoteoroa Section

Wow or “World of Wearable Art” is an international design competition culminating in a spectacular audiovisual dance awards show held in New Zealand each year.

The soundtrack to the Aoteoroa section of the 2019 show is pulsating modern dance music, inspired by Maori mythology, and with a fresh creative process. In the same way that Taonga Puoro practitioners find natural treasures in the landscape and turn them into instruments, I tried to treasure recordings of these instruments, and elemental recordings taken from special locations, by digitally transforming them into new textures and percussive patterns.
